Who should fill Sika Manu void for Hull FC?

Sika Manu has been handed a three-match ban by the Rugby Football League for a crusher tackle and that has left Hull FC with a void to fill again.

The Tonga captain had missed the previous two games due to a lower leg injury which saw Jack Downs start back to back games against Salford Red Devils and Wigan Warriors.

But Manu returned for the 31-24 victory over Widnes only to land himself in bother after he was charged with putting unnecessary pressure on the neck of Vikings’ Owen Buckley in the 58th minute.

A Grace C charge and a three-match penalty notice followed, with Hull choosing not to challenge the punishment.

Downs could well land himself straight back in the line-up but coach Lee Radford has options. Dean Hadley can play the right-sided second rower role but Radford likes ball-playing loose-forwards and Hadley is the man who fits at the moment with Joe Westerman sidelined.

Danny Washbrook has filled in on the right edge plenty of times for the Black and Whites since returning to the club from Wakefield Trinity ahead of 2016, but Washbrook is arguably the ideal bench player right now due to his versatility.

Jordan Lane is another player who fits the bill. He made his debut in the position earlier this season and has even started games in his rookie campaign.

RADFORD'S SECOND-ROW OPTIONS: Hull FC's Jack Downs (left), Jordan Lane (top right) and Danny Washbrook (bottom right).

This writer would like to see Downs handed another chance in the final year of his contract but Radford certainly has some good options with young and hungry players eager to stake their claim.
