While food outlets were flat out dealing with the festive trade it did not stop environmental health inspectors casting their critical eye on cleanliness.
There was no slacking off for Christmas as inspectors had another busy month in December visiting a number of restaurants, hotels, pubs and takeaways.
The good news is that the vast majority of the 21 places rated last month have secured the top food hygiene score of five.
New places such as Brazgrill and the refurbished White Hart and Odeon were all handed top marks.
But there will also be huge disappointment for The Sandwich Bar in New Cleveland Street and Chicken George in Endike Lane which were handed zero ratings – meaning urgent improvements are necessary.
Hull City Council’s environmental health inspectors are always visiting venues that serve food in order to make sure they are complying with government standards of food safety, but not all of those places inspected are given top marks.
Below are all the premises inspected by the council during December 2018.
