Sometimes it does us good to get away for a few days.
And although I don’t normally need an excuse to do so, my partner and I were celebrating our ten-year anniversary so it had to be somewhere that extra bit special.
We’ve stayed at two of the hotels in the Red Carnation Hotel Collection in the past, so knew we were in good hands.
We booked into The Montague on the Gardens in Bloomsbury for a Saturday night in the capital.
A hassle-free train ride down, and we soon found ourselves stepping through its welcoming doors where staff cannot do enough for you.
We were a little early for check-in though, so were offered complimentary tea and coffee in the grand lounge while we waited and our luggage was taken care of.
We were booked into one of the classic double rooms, which start from £297 per night.
The price for bed and breakfast in a Classic Double Room starts from £342 per night too (based on twin share accommodation).
The room featured a plush four-poster bed and all the amenities to make for a relaxing and luxurious night’s stay.
It includes 24-hour room service, Sky TV and soft bathrobes and slippers.
Once we’d checked out our room and dropped off our luggage, we headed out into the sunshine, making our way to Camden Market to explore.
In the evening, we headed to the hotel’s Leopard Bar and Cigar Lounge for a glass of prosecco while we enjoyed the brilliant live music in the stylish and intimate setting.
As the name suggests, it “offers a perfect blend of chic traditional British elegance and colonial South African inspired furnishings” and everything is leopard print. What more could you want?
Although not yet open when we stayed, we were given a sneak peek at the cool Beech Bar, a “summer party venue with a unique twist”.
It comes complete with real sand, a beach-hut style thatched roof and palm trees.
So we will definitely have to pay a visit back for a cocktail or too.
After a perfect, relaxing night’s sleep, we enjoyed a delicious English breakfast to set us up for another day in the capital.
