A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in the early hours of the morning.
Police have cordoned off a large stretch of the A614 in Howden this morning after a serious collision which happened between the Howden Spur roundabout and the Hailgate roundabout.
A spokesman for Humberside Police said: “Emergency services are currently in attendance on Boothferry Road, Howden following a collision involving a white Peugeot 208 and a pedestrian in the early hours of this morning.
“The incident happened between the Howden Spur roundabout and the Hailgate roundabout at about 2.30am.
“A man suffered serious injuries and has been taken to hospital for treatment.”
The road closure has caused travel chaos with traffic gridlocked in and around Howden. The road was expected to be shut for the rest of the morning but it reopened at 8.55am.
Diversions are in place to help drivers continue their journeys but traffic is struggling to cope with drivers coming on and off the M62 at junction 37 being badly affected.
Anyone with information about the collision is being urged to contact police on 101 quoting log 48 of July 4, 2018.
