Mitch Garbutt’s dynamic play promises to add real grunt to Hull KR’s pack in 2019, according to his former Leeds Rhinos team-mate Danny McGuire.
Prop Garbutt switched to KCOM Craven Park from Headingley earlier this month, penning a three-year contract with the Robins.
Vastly impressing during his four-year stint at the Rhinos, the 29-year-old’s go-forward was instrumental in helping Leeds win the treble in 2015, as well as the 2017 Super League title.
Rekindling their relationship at Rovers for the last 12 months of McGuire’s trophy-laden career, the playmaker can’t wait to see what impact Garbutt will bring as he begins his new life in red and white.
“Mitch will be great for us,” McGuire told Hull Live. “At times last year, we lacked a bit of size in the middle but Mitch is dynamic, he’s powerful and he’ll add a real grunt to our pack.
Mitch Garbutt signs for Hull KR
“It’s been great to have Mitch, Jimmy (Keinhorst) and Weller (Hauraki) here at Hull KR as I know them well from our time at Leeds. There’s plenty of familiar faces and they’ll all add something to the team.
“I think we’ve recruited well – we’ve lost a couple – but we’ve brought in some great players and I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t aim high.”
